Eric Donsky is a frontier industrialist with over 25 years experience building deeptech/hardware companies with a strong focus on advanced manufacturing and novel materials. Eric is the founding CEO of Atomic13, a company industrializing the process physics to unlock a circular supply chain for next generation structural materials.
Prior to founding Atomic13, Eric was founding CEO of TearLab Corporation, a publicly traded in-vitro diagnostics company (NASDAQ:TEAR) that reached a $500M market capitalization. The company was later sold to Bausch and Lomb. Under his leadership, TearLab successfully commercialized one of the world’s first point-of-care nanofluidic lab-on-a-chip platforms, which gained FDA 510(k) clearance, CE Mark, CLIA Waiver and broad reimbursement in the United States.
Eric also founded the first industrial synthetic biology company focused on the manufacturing of chemicals and materials from renewable sources of carbon. BioAmber built a $141 million manufacturing facility in Sarnia, Canada, and formed strategic partnerships with DuPont, Cargill, Lanxess, Mitsubishi, and Mitsui. The company’s technology was initially licensed from ORNL, Argonne, PNNL, and NREL in one of the earliest multi-lab license agreements, supported by an $8.8 million multi-lab CRADA. BioAmber went public on the NYSE with a market capitalization exceeding $1 billion.
