About Us

Unmanufacturable
made real

Atomic13 is an advanced materials company industrializing shear extrusion—using shear deformation to turn 100% post‑consumer scrap into premium aluminum extrusions. We co‑develop alloys and profiles with customers that conventional extruders simply can’t deliver.

This breakthrough process delivers a true step change in an industry that hasn’t evolved in a century. Shear extrusion at manufacturing scale has never been achieved – until now – and it unlocks performance possibilities conventional extrusion simply cannot reach. Atomic13 has taken what was historically unmanufacturable and turned it into a scalable, versatile technology that renders traditional extrusion obsolete across every dimension that matters.

OUR FOUNDATION

Building the Future of Aluminum

OUR VISION

Build the most resilient, circular aluminum‑extrusion platform in the world and rewrite the alloy standards—starting with scrap‑based 6xxx alloy families and advancing to high‑strength, next‑generation material systems that can replace steel and other high strength materials across critical applications. We see no limits to the capabilities of our technology.

Our MISSION

Shear extrusion transforms scrap metal into novel, high‑performance alloys so our customers ship stronger,
lighter, lower embodied carbon products—without trading off anything to gain these benefits.

OUR APPROACH

What do we do

We combine shear extrusion, AI‑guided alloy design, and a domestic, scrap‑based supply chain to deliver edge‑to‑core and end to end microstructural uniformity, higher strength, higher elongation, stable pricing, and dramatically lower embodied carbon.

Applications

COMPETITIVE EDGE

why customers partner with us

ENGINEERING THE MICROSTRUCTURE

We begin with the performance you need, then define the microstructure that will deliver it. From there, our metallurgists specify the exact strength, formability, tolerances, surface quality, and alloy requirements needed to achieve those targets with precision.

THE RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

Shear extrusion refines grains and disperses second phase casting intermetallics using them to benefit final product performance where they are dealt with as a hardship in conventional processes. We eliminate the variability customers have fought for a century buying conventional extrusions.

GIVE UP NOTHING

Simultaneous uplift in strength and ductility enables higher degree of lightweighting with thinner cross section coupled with better dimensional control and outstanding formability.

Stable economics

Billets are made entirely from domestic post‑consumer scrap (PCI + twitch). No primary aluminum, no LME / MWP exposure—pricing that holds for multi‑year programs.

Circular & domestic

Post-consumer scrap in, premium extrusions out – Melted & Manufactured in the U.S.A. for certification along with lower routing and material cost, simplified documentation, faster supply chains and 100% on time delivery. You will work with nobody who is more customer centric than A13.

our PROCESS

Our Technology
at a Glance

Conventional extrusion works from the front of the process – tight melt chemistries, homogenization, and hope that the press can fix what casting created. The integrity of your product should not be based on hope.

Shear extrusion flips the script, adding controlled rotational shear just before extrusion to intensely refine the microstructure, break-up brittle cast intermetallics, and drive full dynamic recrystallization. The result is uniform properties, higher strength and elongation, tighter dimensional control, and the ability to turn low‑grade post‑consumer scrap into the highest‑performance extrusions ever produced.
